Why Wear a Poppy?
Our Brother's in arms are remembered in these fields, they live on in our minds and in the memories of those they loved.

Their example also signals to coming generations of servicemen and women that much is expected of them. Comradeship lies at the very core of our creed as servicemen and women, Comradeship, in its true military sense, implies self-sacrifice.

We remember these men and women for their youthfulness, courage and character. For those who knew them, they will always be part of our lives.
The lodge raffle money (£230.00) was donated to "The Royal British Legion" / Help for Heroes ...

The institution of the award of the Elizabeth Cross, to which Her Majesty The Queen has given her name, was announced in Parliament on 1st July 2009. It is a new national recognition of the loss and sacrifice suffered by the families of those who are killed on operations or as a result of an act of terrorism. The Elizabeth Cross - a sterling silver emblem in the shape of a cross over a wreath. This is the first time the name of a reigning monarch has been given to a new award since the George Cross was instituted in 1940 by King George VI for brave acts by both civilians and the military. Prior to this, the Victoria Cross was introduced by Queen Victoria in 1856 for acts of gallantry by the Armed Forces

WOOTTON BASSETT

Wootton Bassett again bows its head
Respect for the homecoming
Of our war dead,
It makes no difference
If black or if white
You are our heroes
And it’s not right
So young to fight,
And give up your life
Standing with dignity
Is your proud wife,
The public stand to say goodbye
For soldiers unknown to us
A flower is thrown, we stand and cry,
We hang our heads to hide the shame
You are dead, but who’s to blame
The Government or the Taliban
You say it’s just my job
Our hero Soldier man.
